Read-only calendar connections

Check calendar availability. Keep booking in your hands.

A caller asking about Tuesday at 5 p.m. needs more than a generic callback message. Spikey can check selected calendars for availability during the conversation and collect the request for your team. It does not create appointments, hold time or change existing events.

Connect the calendar that holds your schedule

The workspace owner can connect Google Calendar or Microsoft Calendar from Setup, review the access information and choose the calendars used for appointments and blocked time. Microsoft connections support Outlook.com and Microsoft 365 accounts, subject to provider and organization permissions.

Signing into Spikey and connecting a calendar are separate steps. A calendar connection needs its own authorization. If your workplace limits third-party applications, an administrator may need to approve access. Choose an account that can actually access the calendars your business relies on.

Make the selection match how your team works

For one combined schedule, a busy event on any selected calendar blocks that time. This is useful when several calendars together represent the commitments of one person or resource. Include the relevant blocked time, not just customer appointments.

For separate team members, each selected calendar should contain that person's complete schedule. Spikey can check who is free using those calendars. Calendar availability alone does not establish the right skills, equipment, grooming duration or travel time for a particular request; your team still decides what fits.

Understand what the assistant can read

Google access covers calendar names and IDs and free/busy times. Microsoft access covers calendar names and IDs plus event timing, availability and cancellation fields. Spikey stores encrypted access tokens and your calendar selections so the connection can support later checks.

Relevant availability results are shared with ElevenLabs and Google Gemini to answer callers and may appear in call records. Calendar information is not used for advertising or general-purpose AI training. Review the calendar privacy details before connecting, and select only the calendars needed for this workflow.

Confirm appointments using the current schedule

An availability check describes the calendar at the time of the check. Another booking may arrive a moment later. Spikey does not hold a slot, and the dashboard does not save a separate historical availability snapshot proving that a particular time was free during the call.

Review the request, recheck your live schedule and confirm the appointment with the customer through your usual process. If a connection expires or access is revoked, reconnect from Setup. Disconnecting stops new access; use the privacy request process if you also need deletion of saved records.

Common questions

Can Spikey create or change calendar events?

No. Calendar connections are for read-only availability checks. Your team remains responsible for creating, rescheduling and canceling appointments in its booking system and communicating confirmed arrangements to customers.

What if I do not connect a calendar?

You can still use Spikey to answer forwarded calls and collect callback requests. Your team checks availability during follow-up instead of having the assistant consult a connected calendar during the call.

Does a free window guarantee we can take the appointment?

No. It reflects the information in the selected calendars when checked. You still need to consider service length, staff suitability, equipment, travel and any bookings made since that check before confirming a time.
